Special Bear Rank Rules
From ScoutManage
Boy Scouts of America has very different and complex rules for how boys can earn electives once they've earned their Bear Rank badge in Cub Scouts. Basically, Bear Scouts can work on achievements towards their Bear Rank. Once they have completed their Bear Rank, any achievement used in a requirement that was not used to achieve the Bear Rank may be used towards Bear Electives. Please consult the Bear Book for more specific rules and details.
[edit] While Earning Bear Rank Advancement
While a Bear scout is working on their Bear Rank advancement (and has not yet earned it):
- Mark completion of Requirement 1 - Requirement 24 in the Bear Rank Advancement Award.
- Mark completion of Elective 1 - Elective 25 in the Bear Electives Award.
[edit] When a Scout Earns the Bear Rank Advancement
Once a Bear scout has earned their Bear Rank advancement, do the following:
- Find the Bear Electives award in the member's profile page. Click the |Edit| button by the award.
- Read the information in red under the Achievement Comment. Then click |Copy Completed Requirements|.
- In the popup, find any completed requirements that are marked complete, but were not used for earning the Bear Rank. Place a check in the box labeled "Should this requirement be used to count for Bear Arrow Points?".
- Once complete, click |Copy Selected Achievements|.
All unused Bear Requirements have now been transferred over to electives, and can be used for arrow points. If the result of this transfer is new arrow points are awarded, they will automatically be placed in the "Ready To Receive" list.
[edit] Working on Electives Towards Arrow Points
While a Bear Scout is working on electives only (they've already earned their Bear Rank):
- Mark completion of all Requirement 1 - Requirement 24 and Elective 1 - Elective 25 in the Bear Electives Award.
Gold and Silver Arrow Points will be created automatically as needed.
